Just saw your website and am very excited that you are involved in working with the faith community. As founder of a domestic violence organization in St. Louis, Missouri USA, that has been one of the most difficult areas to be effective in. However, God is good and we are making headways into various churches providing information, resources and referrals. Keep up the good work.

My experience is that while most Christian leaders denounce domestic violence, they can't recognise it. I sought help from many pastors for many years and most of their advice caused the family re-injury. Even now, pastors who talk to him don't see it as domestic violence. Our Christian counselor (whom I have stopped seeing) insisted on couples counselling, even after I expressed reluctance because of abuse.

Oh for the day that pastors and leaders equip themselves with knowledge about domestic abuse, recognise the dynamics of power and control in a couple's relationship, and prioritise the safety of women and children, instead of simply extending support to the abusive husband when he tries to get sympathy.

As a young peoples pastor in the community I see way too much of this - well any is too much. Everyone has a right to be treated as they too would want to be, & not because of badly learned role models. Well done for this site & I pray and support you in your efforts to bring about a fair, just, peaceful and loving wonderful way of living as it should be. Lots of work to do lets work together to promote these values, practically and in prayer,
